Recycling Program
New York City’s updated recycling requirements will be enforced beginning August 1, 2017. DSNY
inspectors will be performing unannounced site visits in tenant spaces and if deficiencies are
found, violations and monetary fines will be issued directly to the tenant.
Below is a summary of the steps necessary to ensure tenant compliance:

- Implement a 3-bin system to properly sort paper, metal/glass/plastic & waste
- Clearly label all bins stating the type of material that is being collected
- Post and maintain signage in public, staff, dining, pantry, maintenance & waste storage areas instructing how waste and recyclables should be separated
